The world's greatest apologist is worthless—worthless, if they fail to defend Jesus in a manger and on a cross for our sin.
Apologetics is a defense of our faith. "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1
Our faith/hope is grounded in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and all that it means. Jesus Christ died for us, as our sacrificial, substitutionary atonement for sin. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed” 1 Peter 2:24
Christ took the punishment that we deserve onto Himself in our place.
He substituted Himself for us—and took the wrath of God that we rightly deserved. “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” 2 Corinthians 5:21
The wages of sin is death.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
That death is separation from God in the blackness, darkness, and torment of Hell for all eternity, without hope.
Without that kind of death, there can be no forgiveness of sin. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5
Jesus died in our place that we may be forgiven, and God could forgive our sin and still be Holy, Just, and all together Righteous in doing so.
"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit” 1 Peter 3:18
Emmanuel, meaning God with us, is the incarnation of the second person of the Trinity. This remembrance of the birth of Christ is most commonly known as Christmas. Apart from all the commercial aspects, to those of us who genuinely know and love Jesus as our Savior and live our lives to honor Him as our Lord, this truly is the most wonderful time of the year for we know, and are sure that...
It Is Finished!
We are Forgiven!
We are in Christ, and for all eternity when God looks upon us, by grace and grace alone, He will see the perfect holiness, righteousness and purity of His dear Son. Again, by grace alone.
May this Christmas season be more holy, more precious, more wondrous to you, and more meaningful than ever before when you reflect on the true meaning of the birth of Christ Jesus our Savior and Lord.
